Learning Enrichment

support And Extension

Newland House is an inclusive School, and our Learning Enrichment Department works together with parents and families to ensure that every child here makes the best possible progress, meets their targets, and discovers their own brilliance.

We celebrate and support neurodiversity and recognise everyone experiences the world differently.

There may be times when a class teacher feels a child would benefit from an intervention group to support their learning and help them achieve their best. These groups might also help a child catch up in a particular skill area.

We offer a range of enrichment groups as part of our everyday provision, including Social and Emotional, Phonics, Fine Motor, Social and Communication, Jump Ahead, and Maths and English. Newland House is also a member of NACE (National Association for Able Children in Education) and MENSA, allowing us to cater for the more able learners and offer suitable levels of challenge and stretch. Sometimes, the class teacher may suggest one-to-one sessions in numeracy or literacy with one of our experienced specialist teachers, who are all trained at SpLD Level 5 or above. These sessions support children with specific learning difficulties, including Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Developmental Language Disorder.

With a deep understanding of neurodiversity, our weekly targeted tuition identifies gaps in knowledge and provides strategies that pupils can implement. This small-step, achievable, memorable, and multisensory approach helps children feel supported and confident as they grow in self-esteem and ensures greater access to the curriculum. (This is offered at an additional cost.)
