Design Technology at Newland House
Pupils are shown the importance of the design process from their initial design concept idea through to development, modelling and a finished product.
With careful support and guidance, they learn to use a comprehensive range of handheld and machine tools in a workshop where they can explore traditional and modern manufacturing techniques.
Our pupils have access to a range of modern CAD/CAM equipment including a 3D printer, 3D scanner, vinyl cutter and laser cutter all of which are controlled by software such as 2D Design, Autodesk Fusion, and Trimble SketchUp. Robotics, programming, and problem solving are taught as part of the curriculum and in STEM Club through VEQ Robotics and Sphero Education
