Beyond the Classroom

We provide an exciting and wide-ranging programme of workshops, visits and trips to bring learning to life.

Workshops

We regularly invite guests in to deliver workshops which ignite curiosity and encourage hands-on learning.

Recent experiences have included African drumming, diving into the captivating world of Shakespeare, learning and performing French with the Onatti Theatre company and experimenting in Science with the Royal Institution.

Visits

We are lucky to be able to capitalise on our proximity to London as well as venturing further afield. Day trips go to Hampton Court Palace, Eltham Palace, Bushy Park, Bhakivedanta Manor and Salisbury Cathedral.

UK residentials

Beginning in Year 3, your child will have the chance to go on an annual educational residential trip.

This reflects their growing independence and also helps forge strong interpersonal skills and lifelong bonds – destinations include Walton Firs in Year 3, Ufton Court in Year 4 and Juniper Hall in Year 5.

In Years 6 and 8, pupils revel in 5 days of adventure and outward bounds activities like kayaking, bouldering and climbing in Dorset or the Lake District.

Trips and Tours

Through international travels, pupils gain an appreciation for diverse cultures and broaden their horizons.

They get to live together with friends away from home for a short period and trips are always great fun!

Adventures on offer include:

Ski Trip

Every few years the school runs a ski trip during the February half term. For the last four trips we have visited Quebec and Niagara Falls. The trip includes skiing at Mont Sainte Anne and Stoneham, a morning at Valcartier Snow Park and a visit to the world-famous CN Tower in Toronto.

Year 6 Normandy Trip

Every Spring, Year 6 pupils travel to Chateau de la Baudonniere in Normandy. They immerse themselves in the French language, practising what they have learnt in their French lessons, as well as exploring the rich history of the area such as the British War Cemetery and the Bayeux Tapestry.

European Trips

Our recent trip to Iceland, discovering the country’s unique landscape and geography was incredibly popular.

We will be running a trip to the resort of Tolon in the Peloponnese, Greece, where we will visit many interesting sites including Olympia, Mycenae, Epidauros, Nauplion, Mistra, Ancient Corinth and the Acropolis.

Cricket Tours

Every two years we offer our senior boys an incredible opportunity to play cricket overseas. Previous destinations have included Kenya, Barbados, South Africa and St Lucia.

Choir Tour

Choir tours are a wonderful opportunity to sing in some memorable locations. Recent annual choir trips have toured Belgium, Cornwall and other parts of the UK.
