Beauty Begins with Bunting
Newland House is celebrating the incredible achievement of the Year 2 team behind Beauty Begins with Bunting, the newest social enterprise from Twickenham! Led by pupils Vivi, Magnus, Nathan and Isaac, this talented team has been recognized as the 'Best Overall Business' in the aged 5-8 category at this year's Fiver Challenge.
This National program, facilitated by Young Enterprise, empowers children to develop vital enterprise and financial literacy skills, and with a staggering 18,668 children participating from across the country this year, this accolade is a testament to our young entrepreneurs’ hard work, commitment and creativity.
From January to July, the children dedicated their time in our extra-curricular Entrepreneur Club, working together to create a unique brand identity and launch a sustainable social enterprise that produces handmade bunting for all occasions, using pre-loved materials. Their entrepreneurial journey was not without challenges; they faced problem-solving dilemmas, made tough decisions, and even learned how to master the use of a sewing machine! In true entrepreneurial spirit however, the team embraced these obstacles as valuable learning experiences and we couldn’t be more proud of them!
We were delighted when Mike Soutar, a familiar face on The Apprentice and one of Lord Alan Sugar’s most trusted aides sent his congratulations to the school, sharing in our pride and excitement at the children’s remarkable achievement.
Beauty begins with Bunting is one of three fantastic teams of Year 2 pupils who joined our Entrepreneur Club this year, and a special mention must also go to Flames for the Future and Pencil Stars for their hard work and commitment to the club and to developing their businesses. We hope that this is just the beginning for all the children and look forward to continuing to nurture and support their innovation and entrepreneurial spirit as they move into Year 3!
