Extra Curricular Clubs, Music Tuition and LAMDA
Extra-curricular Clubs
At Newland House, you can choose from over 70 different clubs which means that there is something to inspire and excite everyone.
We’re passionate about participation and will encourage your child to explore their interests and talents outside of the school timetable.
Clubs run before school, during lunchtime and afterschool. Many are led by our own teachers and are free to attend, those run by external providers will be billed termly.
Individual Music Lessons
Outside of lessons, there is an array of opportunities to play a musical instrument and around 70% of children learn a musical instrument at school.
Our highly skilled peripatetic music teachers offer individual lessons from Year 1 in a huge range of instruments, such as violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, French horn, piano, guitar and drums. Children can learn classical singing and there’s also pop singing and song writing, music theory and acting and music technology available.
Individual lessons will be on a rotating timetable so the children will come out of their lessons at a different time each week.
Small group Lessons
In Years 1 and 2, children also have the option to learn violin, cello and recorder in small groups.
Arrangements for lessons and payment are organised directly with the visiting music teacher.
Lamda
LAMDA (London Academy of Dramatic Art ) is a world leading drama school and examinations provider.
Our experienced visiting LAMDA teacher offers 30-minute weekly lessons in communication and performance. Lessons help empower children to become confident communicators and are given during school hours on a rotating timetable. By this system, your child will rarely miss the same subject more than two or three times a term. They will be encouraged to take LAMDA examinations when the teacher feels they are ready – exams can be taken externally or at school.
