Nursery
Welcome to our warm and nurturing teacher-led Nursery, part of the Early Years Hub at Newland House School.
Children who start their educational journey here from the age of 3 will be gently introduced to the routine of school life and encouraged to explore, experiment and grow in independence.
Our days, based on the EYFS curriculum, are varied and inspiring. We adapt our provision to meet the needs of all children, encouraging them to follow their own interests and enjoy messy, independent play with plenty of opportunity to be outside. Play and child-initiated activities are balanced with teacher-led learning. Each week, children take part in Music, French and PE lessons with subject specialists and we teach phonics, Maths, Awe and Wonder and Topic in short, engaging sessions. Write Dance and Dough Disco each week are a fun way to help to develop fine and gross motor skills.
In our very popular Forest School sessions children learn about the seasons and environment firsthand, building shelters and campfires. Weekly cooking sessions involve making delicious treats like soup, biscuits, bread rolls, and apple crumble. We have been planting and caring for bulbs in our garden area with the hope of harvesting vegetables to cook with later!
As an experienced Early Years and KS1 teacher, I lead a team of dedicated and caring staff who love inspiring young minds. Our philosophy is simple, we want every child in our Nursery to feel recognised and cared for as the unique individual that they are. We know that children flourish and learn when they feel happy, cared for, and are having fun. One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is witnessing the children’s growth throughout the year and observing the relationships they develop with one another.
I hope that you will choose to visit us and I look forward to meeting you and your family soon.
